Spain and Portugal: 12 days

Portugal tour coastal town

Depart: New York City

Day 2

Land in Lisbon: Transport to your elegant hotel and after unwinding a walking tour of Lisbon.

Day 3

Spend the day with your private guide and see the gems of Lisbon: Tour Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower, sample the famous pasteis de Belem and visit the Time Out Market for the sampling of Portuguese food and entertainment.

Day 4

Day trip to Sintra A longtime royal sanctuary, its forested terrain is studded with pastel-colored villas and palaces. The Moorish and Manueline-style Sintra National Palace is distinguished by dramatic twin chimneys and elaborate tile-work. The hilltop 19th-century Pena National Palace is known for its whimsical design and sweeping views. Then relax on Adraga beach, known for its beautiful sand and dramatic, wild coastline.

Day 5

Depart for Evora: Medieval walls partially enclose this interesting city.  A walking guided tour of this UNESCO World heritage site includes the Roman temple and the Capella dos Ossos (chapel of bones).  You have to see it to believe it.

Day 6

Depart for Seville: After checking in to your beautiful hotel you’ll take a walking tour of Santa Cruz the enchanting neighborhood where your hotel is located as well as a guided tour of Cathedral and Giralda.

Day 7

Tour the beautiful city of Sevilla. Guided tour of Alcázar, Plaza de España, Parque de María Luisa and ending the evening in a sala de Flamenco.

Day 8

Trip to Cadiz and the beach.  This ancient port city on the Mediterranean displays proudly contributions of many cultures and some of the most beautiful beaches.  Take the day to relax and enjoy the beauty.

Day 9

Depart for Madrid via AVE: High Speed train that makes the trip to Spain’s capital go by in a snap.  From the comfortable seats of the train you will still see the beautiful expanse of the Spanish landscape.  Check in and your ready for a guided walking tour of the Plaza Mayor and Puerta del sol.

Day 10

Tour of Royal Palace or Prado Museum.

The official residence of the Royal family, although only used for official state affairs, was built over 25 years in the mid-eighteenth century.  Your guide will show you some of the most beautiful rooms of this impressive palace.

The Prado Museum is one of Europe’s most impressive museums with its vast collection of fine art.  It illustrates the collections that are an important part of western culture’s history and development.  Your expert guide will show you some of the most impressive examples of the Spanish masters.

 

Day 11

Bus Tour of city, Explore Gran Retiro Park, have tapas at San Miguel Market and finish up last minute shopping.

Day 12

Depart for USA
