Castile: Madrid Central Spain: 8 Days

Depart: New York, Overnight Flight

Madrid (3 nights)

Day 2 transport to hotel. Walking tour of historic district and time to unwind from flight.

Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Mercado de San Miquel. Discover all the hidden treasures of the old section in Madrid: tapas, cafés and great shops. Your neighborhood is Atocha and the lively and picturesque Plaza de Santa Ana.

Day 3

Tour El Palacio Real and El Prado Museum: Spend the day with your guide sharing her incredible knowledge of the Royal Palace and one of the most important museums in Europe. The Spanish masters will come alive with this tour.

Day 4

Day trip to Toledo: Spend the day in the first Capital of Spain. Walking tour of this city on a hill. Experience the historic influence of the different ethnicities that lived in harmony in this beautiful city. Tour the Cathedra, the most impressive in Spain, San Tomé Church the works of El Greco and the Zamorano Sword making factory. Return late afternoon to Madrid.

Day 5

Depart for Segovia via El Escorial. Tour the monastery El Escorial or Valley of the Fallen and continue on to Segovia. Home of the most impressive Roman aqueduct and the Alcazar, inspiration of Disney’s castle. Spend the night in this quaint city right on la plaza mayor.

Day 6 and 7

Depart for Salamanca: The Golden City: This medieval university town is literally gold in the sunlight. The construction in sandstone has aged to an incredible gold. We will stay our last two nights relaxing, experiencing the most incredible tapas, lively atmosphere and the most famous Plaza Mayor in Spain “the living room of Spain.” We will have a walking tour, tour the Old and New Cathedral and tour the Meuseo Taurino, bullfighting museum.

Day 8

Depart for NYC, USA
